These reclaimed boards were originally installed in mushroom growing warehouses for Campbell’s Soup in 1949 as roof decking and ceiling decking! We are salvaging as much as we can and currently have about 4,000 linear feet in stock with another 15,000 linear feet on the way. The boards are about 12 feet long on average. The blonding effect is caused by natural aging as well as a prolonged exposure to vermiculite and vermiculite dust, which may add a preservative/protective element to the wood. It may rot with prolonged exposure to moisture, but notably we haven’t seen a single termite in years. There are a handful of nails in each board, hence the low price.
Finished photos are of these boards, resurfaced, installed in various projects. One is a backyard surf shop in Waikiki, Oahu. Another is a bar in Marin County, California. The other is roof decking at a shop in the Berkeley Hills, California.
