These reclaimed planks were originally installed in mushroom growing warehouses for Campbell’s Soup in 1949 as horizontal rack pieces! The blonding effect is caused by natural aging as well as a prolonged exposure to vermiculite and vermiculite dust, which may add a preservative/protective element to the wood. It may rot with prolonged exposure to moisture, but notably we haven’t seen a single termite in years. You can see a relatively uniform coloration on the one side. There are a handful of nails in each board, hence the low price.
