How it works
PRLS (pronounced “pearls”) or Pacific Reclaimed Lumber Supply is an online marketplace that connects buyers with sellers who focus on reclaimed lumber, “made from reclaimed” furniture, and other reclaimed building materials.
We were designed by reuse industry experts, and our mission is to help materials get used in another life, preventing them from being landfilled or incinerated.
We are here to help connect sellers and buyers who want to exchange and reuse lumber and related construction materials in a safe and secure marketplace.

Sellers showcase their products on the platform and fulfill customer orders. Sellers create listings of their products, manage listings to keep information current, respond to communications from buyers, handle online payments, and coordinate with the buyers to pick up items. In some cases, sellers may or may not be able to work with buyers to arrange shipping; buyers would need to connect with sellers to see if shipping is possible and what the added fees would be.
Buyers browse through listings from various sellers. Buyers can communicate with sellers, purchase products online, and make secure payments. Buyers should take careful note of the location of items before purchasing them, as items may be pick-up only.
Step One:
Visit the “Sign Up” link in the top left corner menu to create and confirm your account via email.
Once approved by our team, you will receive a welcome email.
Now you are ready to complete your profile and start listing!
SELLERS:
REQUESTING A SELLER ACCOUNT
PRLS reviews all potential sellers before allowing them to list on our site. Through a vetted membership process, our goal is to ensure that everyone who lists on the platform has the provenance of their materials documented.
MANAGING YOUR SELLER ACCOUNT
Click the circular profile link in the upper right corner of any page. Choose from various options including Inbox, My Listings, Profile, or Settings.
Inbox: where you can find messages to you from others in the marketplace.
My Listings: where sellers manage listings, using options to filter and sort the list.
Profile: where you update information about yourself such as Name, Display Name, Username, Location, Phone Number, About (a small bio about you), Profile Picture.
Settings: where you can edit various configurable seller attributes including:
Profile Information: Sellers should take time to provide a great overview of who you are, what you sell, and where you are located. Buyers and other sellers can view your Profile page and see your listings, people you follow, and reviews from users on the site.
Listings: another way to get to your My Listings page quickly.
Transactions: a summary of transactions between you and others with options to filter and sort the list.
Account: includes options to edit the Account’s email address(es) or password and provides the ability to delete your account.
Notifications: This section lets you toggle many email settings.
Payments: this section allows sellers to configure how to receive funds. Read more about Payments below.
IMAGE TIPS Before posting photos, be sure to resize and crop them to 660x440 for best results. If you work on a Mac, you can easily adjust photo sizes in Preview. If you are working with your iPhone, before taking photos, preset your camera to take sizes. Remember to reset afterwards for normal photos.
ENABLING PAYMENTS
PRLS uses PayPal to manage buyer and seller transactions, service fees, and commissions from sellers to PRLS, which enables buyers to use credit cards to pay online. Sellers need to set up payment processing to allow buyers to purchase products from your listings. See the Steps for Sellers to Receive Payments article for details.
PayPal is the current payment processing provider.
Sellers should connect their PayPal account to route payments to you. To begin, click the circular profile link in the upper right corner of any page. Choose Settings. Then from Settings, choose Payments. Follow page prompts to connect your PayPal account to your PRLS profile. Your PayPal account may need to be upgraded to Premium or Business Account which is free to do; see https://www.paypal.com/upgrade/.
You will need to authorize PRLS to take out a commission on items you sell on this platform. PayPal transaction fees, which vary by transaction, will also be applied to each sale.
** TIP: Price items high enough to cover PRLS commissions and payment processing fees, which will be subtracted out.

LISTING:
Take time to fill out as much information as possible about an item. Not all listed categories are required, but you should use as many as relevant. Be sure to list the material in the correct location. For instance, wood slabs from fire damaged trees should be listed under “urban fell”, not “reclaimed wood”. Include important details about a material in the description regarding condition, what it is best used for, and other details you think are important to share. We are counting on you to maintain a level of integrity that uplifts our community with thorough details and as much data about an item as possible.
LISTING TIPS
Price items high enough to cover PRLS commissions and PayPal transaction fees, which will be subtracted from the purchase price.
Prices should include any applicable sales taxes, as it is the Seller's responsibility to collect and remit sales tax according to your local area.
Items priced at less than $1.01 are not allowed on the platform. Consider a different quantity or measurement value to bring the base price above $1.00.
Fill in as much detail as possible in the Title and Description to help buyers find items via keywords.
A picture is worth a thousand words. Add one or more pictures to each listing.
SHIPPING
Shipping is limited and may only be used for quantities that are easy to price shipping. At this time, we ask that you choose the pick-up option for lumber and other large items. For LTL and other shipping options, you can arrange for shipping with the buyer, then use the shipping category to have them make a payment (optional).
ENGAGING WITH BUYERS
Buyers may reach out to you on the Listing page or through a private message to learn more about the listing. Please respond at your earliest convenience to help ensure a great experience on the site.
BUYERS:
SETTING UP AN ACCOUNT
PRLS reviews all potential buyers before allowing them to purchase from our site. To request to become a buyer, please visit our Contact Us page and provide your name and email address, so we can send you an application.
RESETTING YOUR PASSWORD
Click on the circular profile image for you in the upper right of any page. Choose the Settings option from the list presented. From the Settings page, use the list of choices on the left side of the page and choose Account to see the section to reset your password.
SHOPPING: USING SEARCH
Use the search bar at the top of the page. Enter descriptive keywords to start your search, such as “wood door”. Search results are ordered by relevance, using the “sort by” feature if desired. Click on any specific listing from the search results to see more details.
VIEWING A LISTING
Each listing page includes many wonderful details about the product, pricing, and attributes. Be sure to fully read the listing to understand the product quantities, conditions, and location, and look at pictures provided by the seller. To learn more about the seller, click on the seller’s name to view the seller profile page.
ASKING QUESTIONS ABOUT A LISTING
On any listing page, use the Public Discussion area to post any questions. This route is very helpful because you and other users can engage with the seller in a way that allows everyone to see the response from the seller.
CONTACTING A SELLER PRIVATELY
You can ask a question via the Public Discussion area on a listing page and the question will be shown publicly, or click into the seller’s name and contact the seller from that page to contact the seller privately.
MAKING A PURCHASE
To complete a purchase, follow page prompts to purchase an item. When you purchase an item, you will receive a message in your PRLS inbox as well as an email saying your payment has been authorized. Your payment request must be accepted by the seller. Once it is accepted, you will be charged. At this point, you and the seller can communicate about shipping.
Only registered buyers who are logged in may purchase. We are serious about ensuring buyers and sellers are verified to reduce scams, fraud, and time spent with insincere buyers. Follow the page prompts to buy an item. Most of our sellers are set up to use PayPal which typically allows buyers to purchase via various methods, including a credit card. Stripe is also available.
TRANSPORTATION AND SHIPPING
At this time, we cannot ship items or transport items amongst our locations. Some sellers or listings may only allow pick-up, so check the location of any listing carefully. To determine if a seller will provide shipping and what the added costs will be, please contact the seller before making a purchase.
EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS
Choose what types of emails to get from PRLS by clicking on the circular profile image for you in the upper right corner of any page. Choose the Settings option from the list presented. From the Settings page, use the list of choices on the left side of the page and choose the Notifications option.
DELETE OR DEACTIVATE AN ACCOUNT
Click on the circular profile image for you in the upper right corner of any page. Choose the Settings option from the list presented. From the Settings page, use the list of choices on the left side of the page and choose the Account option.
